Push and play
Every good practice benefits from a mixture of push and play.
By push, I mean pushing capabilities to their limit. This often involves the input of another person that can help address weak points.
By play, I mean casually and playfully using capabilities. The focus here is on enjoyment and often comes with more variety.
Let's apply this.
Spanish
- Push: Classes where my teacher focuses on my weak points.
- Play: Talking to anyone in Spanish or reading an article.
Movement
- Push: Working towards a clear goal like a freestanding handstand or a 20kg weighted chin up.
- Play: Bouldering, locomotion, going for a walk.
Writing
- Push: Writing to complete a course.
- Play: Journaling or blogging.
When both push and play are incorporated into a practice, there's a higher likelihood of it being effective, fun and sustainable.
Power to you!
